Tejas Shyam

Mr. Tejas Shyam is a B. Tech (with Honours), IIT Bombay & M. Tech (IIT Bombay). He has qualified the CSIR NET Examination in Chemical Sciences (AIR 25).

After a brief stint with the corporate world at the beginning of his career, he decided to take a full-time plunge to pursue his passion – Teaching. After working with several notable coaching institutions in Mumbai, he started “The Education Journey (TEJ)” in 2016, where he has been teaching, mentoring and guiding students from the age group from Grade 7 to 12 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for various competitive and other exams.

In recognition of his contribution to the field of Education and Entrepreneurship, he has been awarded the "Sardar Patel Excellence Award 2023" for Education and Entrepreneurship ,"100 Most Influential Coaching Leaders (India)" at the Times Ascent Presented World Coaching Congress Awards, 2023, the "10 Most Influential Edupreneurs of the Year 2023" by the Education View Center for Excellence, the “Dynamic Teacher of the Year” at the National Education Brilliance Awards, 2021, the “Asia Pride Award” 2021 by the International Humanity Mission Organization, the “Best Progressive Edupreneur of the Year 2020” at the International EDUx Awards, 2020 and the “Best Teacher of the Year” in Maharashtra at the Progressive Academic Excellence Conference, 2019.

Tejas has completed the hat-trick of being Subject Topper in Senior Secondary Chemistry (2019), Senior Secondary Physics (2020) and Senior Secondary Maths (2020) at the international CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad, one of the most well-respected and widely acclaimed benchmarks in Teaching Excellence, for which he has also been featured in The Education World Magazine.

Tejas has been given the honour of being a columnist with DNA India, with his weekly column titled Ed-Master.

A Certified Entrepreneurship and Business Coach, Tejas is a Visiting Faculty member at Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (one of the top B-Schools in India), where he conducts courses in "Entrepreneurship" and "Innovation Management" for students in MBA programs. He was also a Visiting Faculty member at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, where he was the trainer for the 'Certificate Course in Entrepreneurship'.

A Thrice TEDx speaker, his talks on “Education is not equal to information” (TEDxCRCE,2015), “Learning anything super-quick is SIMPLE” (TEDxSFIT, 2020) and “Sustainable Design” (TEDxStMirasCollege, 2022) have been widely acclaimed by students, parents and teachers. Tejas is also a Teacher Trainer, and conducts teacher development workshops and webinars.

Apart from teaching, he is also a Consultant in the Precious Metals domain. His research and review papers have been published in International journals.

Tejas believes that education is a tool for empowering the mind and hence educational methodologies must develop thinking skills, problem solving skills and a core sense of subject appreciation in students. With the rapidly evolving education landscape, he is a firm proponent of synthesizing the elements of traditional pedagogy together with digital learning tools to create a progressive yet adaptive education system that caters to the learning needs of the students and helps them derive maximum value from the process of learning.
