Biography

Kunal Chandra has 18 years of cross-industry and cross-country expertise in Performance and Total rewards (pay and benefits). He has extensive expertise in formalizing total rewards strategies for organizations which includes market benchmarking of rewards and roles, determination of pay positioning and pay mix, career level structuring & job assessment. I have successfully completed multiple projects around design and administration of long term (ESOPs, RSU, Performance incentives) as well as short-term (Bonus, Variable Pay, sales) incentives and recognition programs. Furthermore, Kunal has hands-on expertise with sales & short-term incentive, manpower planning, budget management for cost optimization and governance model to assure Org sustainability and scalability in the future. Strong grasp of employee health and benefits strategy and design. Have managed international locations notably the United States, UAE(Dubai), UK, Europe, Latin America, Africa and Israel. In the past, he has led the HR analytics, operations and HR technology along with the performance management function.

His area of expertise is executive pay management, which covers C-Suite (Including CEOs & Founders) remuneration design, ESOP strategy design and implementation. Kunal also engages closely with the Global and local Boards for large organizations as well as the pay committee to meet their requirements on a regular basis. He has worked on IPO/Listing preparedness for any future prospective listing. Kunal has led rewards for more than 35 countries and have concluded multiple new country setups. He has also led the HR MnA program for Flipkart wherein he had built the HR MnA team and the integration playbook for seamless integration. He was also responsible for managing the entire life cycle of acquired companies till a stable state is achieved. In his most recent assignment with Flipkart (the largest ecommerce start up in India ; with $38 Bn+ Valuation), He led the Rewards & the HR MnA Team, which was responsible for delivering cutting-edge rewards, performance, and career-related solutions in a fast-paced, high-growth retail, hi-tech, and start-up ecosystem. He has developed teams that excel in managing fast-paced, complex, and ambiguous situations and clients with not only a strong strategic mindset but also with thorough execution abilities, agility and bias for action. He is currently the proud founder of TalentMonk, a boutique consulting firm that helps organizations reimagine their Employee Rewards (Compensation & Benefits) and Performance Management Office by owning the entire journey from strategy to execution. The focus from here is to collaborate and consult startups, medium to large sized organizations in unlocking their superpowers of performance and total reward for higher business value and as they strive to grow bigger, smarter and leaner.
