Topic: "Advancing the Careers of Women in Africa, Middle East and Asia"

Alex is the Senior Human Resources Director for PepsiCo Asia Pacific Region which encompasses 18 markets and employs approximately 5,700 associates. She leads PepsiCo Asia Pacific’s Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Change Leadership and Diversity and Inclusion initiatives as well providing generalist human resources coaching to strategic developing markets. Prior to this she was the Human Resources Director for PepsiCo Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) responsible for 3,000 associates.

Alex is a qualified Attorney with 14 years senior human resources experience across a variety of industries in the Top 100 Australia companies as well as multi-nationals. She has demonstrated expertise in Change Leadership, M&A, Employee Relations, Talent Management and Cultural Transformation.

Since joining PepsiCo in 2007, Alex has been primarily focused in leading and executing against a 3 year Talent Sustainability Strategic Plan in Australia and New Zealand. In this time, under PepsiCo’s ANZ engagement brand ‘Lead the Way’ she and her team have energized the Company around a common goal of elevating engagement levels with a culture change plan that has touched all levels of the organisation. Progress during this time saw engagement levels increase by 9% points, turnover reduce by 18% points and significant progress in building PepsiCo’s Employer Brand internally and externally. Recent internal awards include the PepsiCo Global and Regional Talent Sustainability Awards in 2009 for Lead the Way. Externally in 2009 PepsiCo ANZ won the National Diversity@Work Award for a large organization and finalist in the Federal Government’s Work Life Balance Awards. In 2010 PepsiCo was awarded with Employer of Choice in New Zealand and won Australian Human Resources Institute Award for Leadership Development. Recently in March 2011, PepsiCo ANZ was awarded Employer of Choice for Women by the Australian Government’s EOWA.

Now based in Hong Kong, Alex has recently been appointed to lead PepsiCo’s Africa, Middle East and Asia’s, Centre of Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion and is the key Region Change Lead on a number of large M&A and global system implementations. In September 2011 the World HRD Congress notified Alex of her selection for the 2012 Global HR Leadership Award.

Prior to PepsiCo Alex was the Group Human Resources Manager for Metcash Ltd and also has held senior Human positions in ABB Industry and WMC (now BHP).

Alex obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide and her Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of South Australia. She also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of South Australia. Alex has attended Executive Programs at both Harvard and Michigan Business Schools and is an accredited Hogan Coach.
